Microsoft could bring AI to the Windows 11 Paint app

The drive to embed AI capabilities into various applications is in full swing, and judging by recent news, Microsoft is keen not to be left out. Windows Central has reported, based on insider information, that Microsoft is looking to infuse AI features into the Windows 11 Paint app, enabling users to create images akin to those from Bing’s Image Creator.

This potential feature is among several rumored to be introduced in future Windows 11 updates. Another anticipated feature is optical character recognition for the Snipping Tool, Windows 11’s native screenshot utility. This would enable users to extract text from screenshots, much like the functionality on iPhones that lets you pull text from pictures.

However, it’s worth noting that these capabilities aren’t being rolled out to Windows 11 just yet. So, don’t expect a significant Paint app overhaul in the immediate future. These features are still in the testing phase as Microsoft explores various avenues to weave AI into their suite of products.

Microsoft’s push towards integrating AI into its products isn’t startling. The company has consistently demonstrated a strong inclination towards AI investments, as evidenced by its efforts in Bing and the adoption of GPT language models. Infusing AI into the Windows 11 Paint app might elevate its utility, making it a compelling alternative to advanced tools like Photoshop and Canva.

At this point, all we can do is hypothesize about Microsoft’s AI-driven future for its products. However, if the buzz is accurate, Windows 11 might be in store for some captivating updates. Microsoft has an event lined up in September, which might unveil such features, possibly accompanied by the launch of new Surface devices.
